I seldom make costumes for Halloween, or even ever dress up, but this year I'm going out dancing with a friend, and I need, well, something. I've been thinking about making a Pierrot costume for years, but the moment never came...
until now!
So, sometime between the end of my wedding and Halloween, I need to acquire a bunch of white sateen or some such, and make a whole lot of black pom poms. Here's the inspo...
Since we're going to a club, I think I'm going to make little shorts gathered at the legs, so they are puffy, then wear the pagliaccio shirt over them.
I hope this is as easy as it seems. Here's the pattern I plan to use:
I'll just cut the pants off short and gather them on elastic. The rest should be pretty straight-forward :-)
How fun! I love this idea. Can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteLove it. One day I hope to make a Columbine outfit. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou should! I've wanted to make a Pierrot forever and just never remembered to do it before Halloween. Any excuse is a good one ;-)
DeleteCute! I remember that pattern :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! I'm still majorly stuck for halloween inspiration! x

you'll come up with something awesome, I'm sure :-)
DeleteAhh, I'm going as Columbine/Pierrette. Great minds and all that!
ReplyDeleteYay! I look forward to your post about your costume!
DeleteThat will be so adorable! I can't wait to see you in it. I love clowns, especially sad ones.
ReplyDeleteI have selective clown appreciate syndrome - some clowns are OK.......some clowns are definitely not OK, lol!
DeleteI'm loving those pointy-hipped pattern sketches!
ReplyDeletelol, I wonder what the intended method of keeping the points was...?
DeleteI'd vote for that pink one myself--kind of sexy! And I bet if you faced the points with some stiffener like buckram they would stay.

Ooooh! I wore a Pierrot costume made by my mom when I was 8-9. Black and white is always an irresistible combination.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteLove it, obviously! May I recommend Kryolan Supracolor for the makeup? Easy to apply and it looks good!
ReplyDeleteI've made that costume a few times for Mardi Gras. I needed something easy enough to fit over a down park and ski pants if need be. It's a good one.
ReplyDeleteI did a Pierette costume a few years ago! :D
ReplyDeletejust don't go near kids…or you might be misinterpreted! LOL!
