A couple nights ago was “60s night” here on our floating hotel, so Carolyn and I dressed up in our late 50s/early 60s attire, complete with some BIGASS hair. Carolyn has magical hairstyling powers – she says you had to have lived through it to know how to do it, but I was taking notes. Basically, you start with this…
…and you end up with this…
It was a great night. Carolyn wore her new, beautiful 1950s party dress she found at Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco, and I wore a vintage LBD I got from Carolyn a few years back. Cat eyes, white gloves, and a little pink lipstick, and we were time traveling :-).
Carolyn, Captain Katamaounas, and me, at dinner. |
‘Course, our version of the ’60s was entirely more “Mad Men,” than the night’s entertainment, an alterverse version of Liverpool in the ’60s, complete with bad English accent (oh the horror!), but that’s one of the great things about that decade: you can take it both ways. 🙂
Next up is Astoria, Oregon, then on to Victoria, Canada…
Farewell!
