V124: How to Measure Your Footsies and Find Your Correct Shoe Size

Hi all!

I made a video to show you how to measure your foot and find your proper shoe size.  This includes both the length and the width measurements associated with “B” width dress shoes.

Here’s the size chart from the video, for your reference:

Remember, American Duchess shoes are “B” width, and go by this sizing chart, in US sizes, so when it comes time to measure up for Pompadour, and ivory Kensingtons, coming out on May 14th, you’ll know just what size you need. 🙂

Hi Lauren, thanks for the video, it is a big help for future shoes I would like to order. I'm excited about the Kensington shoes coming soon. I'm planning on breaking mine in at the office.

Thank you, this is great. I've been afraid to order shoes because I didn't know how to tell if they would fit. Thank you for including centimeters too, since we use metric where I live. I will be ordering a pair of shoes from you soon!

Isn't it weird when a person whose blog you read makes a video where they talk and their voice is totally different from how you imagined it?

You don't sound like you to me, either. And I thought the video worked just as well with no sound at all. 🙂 DuchieMom

Thank you for this, Lauren! 🙂 The length of my feet is the right for a size 6, but my feet are just too narrow, only around 8 cm :/ But I hope the Pompadours will fit anyway, cause I really want those shoes!!

It's better to need to fill some room than to not have enough room in them at all. Inserts might help take up some of the space

Lauren, I love your shoes. I would like to order one pair of each! Question: I measured my feet, and they come out to a size 9 1/2. I thought your designs were only made in full sizes. Is that true? If I could order by my actual size I would feel far more confident about the purchase. I hate to return items when they don't fit. Thanks for your help, Lauren.

Hi Sam – Yes, we do make half sizes (always have), so if you normally wear a 9.5, that is what I recommend you order. If you DON'T normally wear a 9.5 in dress shoes, then go with your normal size. Sometimes the tracing and measuring method can yield weird results.

    Hi Lauren
I am interested in purchasing a pair of the beautiful Manhattan button boots but this size test indicates I am a size 7.5 in length but 10 in width (my usual size is about 6-7). I was wondering what size you would recommend as I still really want these shoes!
    Thanks, Matilda

Being very tall, I also have large feet to match. They don't look big attached to my body, but I often have to resort to the men's department for shoes. I wear a European 43/44, but measuring my feet just now tells me I'm ~28.5cm, which according to the chart would be above that. (45 is definitely too large.)

Do you have advice for where to find period-appropriate shoes? I'd love to try my hand at historical costuming but I'm very intimidated, and it's hard enough to find regular shoes. The world isn't kind to big-footed women.
