We have often referred to these sorts of styles as ‘skeleton shoes’, or ‘ribcage shoes’- and these reproduction shoes certainly bring the vampy-ness to our October pre-order collection. Cleo Edwardian Boots
Cleo is a bewitching, showstopper of a boot. Carefully reproduced from period originals, these strappy cutout boots are exquisitely detailed and devastatingly beautiful. Cleo features fine openwork cutouts, with delicately shaped straps that wrap around the leg. This is a functional button boot, with elastic-mounted half-dome buttons. As with our Edith boots, we developed Cleo’s shaft to have that period-accurate, beautiful ankle curve that defines that truly historic boot aesthetic. These boots hug the leg in such an elegant way! Cleo features our custom, curvaceous, 3″/7.62 French spool heel, which is perfectly balanced for comfort. We have developed Cleo in both B and D width. Cleo in B width has a top shaft circumference of 11″/28 cm, and D width has a top shaft circumference of 13.5″/34.30 cm. Whether you get them in black, pale gold, black cherry, pink, or ivory, these boots are so stunning your spine will tingle. Just don’t forget your button hook!
Gloria Edwardian Shoes
If you have been dreaming of an early 20th century shoe that combines a refined look with practicality, Gloria is what you need. This shoe is built on our Paris last, with a low-and-sturdy 1.6″/4 cm Cuban heel that is great for long-term wear. Curvy cutouts framed by leather straps glide gracefully over the vamp and close with functional matching buttons. Gloria is a wonderfully versatile shoe. It’s accurate to the 1910s, but is suitable to wear all the way through to the 1940s. Gloria is available in both B and D width, in black, walnut, ivory, and pale gold. Gorgeous!
Hedy Vintage Slingbacks
Our adventures into 1930s fashion continue with Hedy, a shimmering, head-turning superstar of a shoe. Reproduced from a series of extant originals, these strappy slingbacks are resplendent in richly colored silks topped with sophisticated leather lattice cutouts over the instep in coordinating metallic leathers. For those who prefer an all-leather version, Hedy is available in a silver and gold colorway, for a mixed metal sensation. Hedy is built on a beautiful new 1930s last, with a custom, 3.25″/8.25 cm Spanish heel. Accurate to the 1930s-1940s, these shoes are perfect for any evening event where one wishes to be the best dressed.
As Hedy’s uppers are real silk (aside from the silver/gold colorway), they should not be exposed to wet weather conditions. We don’t recommend the use of waterproofing sprays as they may result in light staining.
