Good news, friends- our new silk stockings are finally here, and we couldn’t be more excited!
We have been working on developing our new line of stockings for a while now. Our goal was to design a historically inspired, silk stocking that was versatile for all manner of historical garb, as well as versatile in size. We think these exclusive stockings have turned out beautifully, and we can’t wait to see you style them!
Our new stockings are 70% silk, blended with nylon and a bit of spandex to ensure stretchiness and good recovery. The 1.5″/ 3.81 cm welt at the top of the stocking doesn’t pinch or dig, which makes these stockings super comfortable.
Lovely legs in our lovely new stockings! Lindsey is 5’7″ tall, and wears a US size 6. Chloe is 5’9″ tall, and wears a US size 18. Our new stockings reach mid-thigh on both models.
American Duchess’ new silk stockings come in ivory, black, pale blue, and pale pink. Ivory and black are classic, and the pale blue and pale pink stockings add that perfect subtle touch of color. They will look just lovely peeking out from your hem!
Blue, or pink? Pink, or blue?
As with most silky delicate things, we recommend hand washing for our new silk stockings. A gentle hand, mild detergent, and warm water will do the trick nicely. We also find that a wool wash, like Eucalan brand wool wash, works quite well. Line dry and you’re all set!
We suggest wearing our new silk stockings with a garter, to keep them secure for longterm wear. Of course, costumers and vintage enthusiasts will know that there are all manner of garters from the fashions of history. Suspension garters, ribbon garters, corset garters, and roll garters will all work splendidly.

These delightful pink garters from c. 1900-1910 would be pinned to your corset with a specialized safety pin. Just look at those bows!
Simple roll garters are a good bet too. The roll garters above are from 1944.

December 7, 2023 at 11:40 AMGood question! The stockings are about 27 inches unstretched from toe to top. The tallest person on our team to test the stockings at this point is 6’3″, with a thigh circumference of about 23, and they found that the stockings easily reached past mid-thigh. How far up the leg they reach from person to person also depends on size- for example, our size 18 model in the photos above is 5’9″ with a thigh circumference of about 28″, and the stockings reach mid-thigh.
