I just love this illustration, don't you?

So I've been reading Jean Hunnisett's Period Costume for Stage & Screen: Patterns for Women's Dress 1500-1800, and recalling the incredible costumes of Elizabeth R (1971), which I saw not too long ago.  So much drool!  It has made me want to strike up a conversation with a fanciful Elizabethan gown again.

The book makes these complicated costumes seem easy!

  1. I won't tell you what QEI is supposed to have done to many cats upon her coronation. It made me not like her for a while.

If you'd like to try your hand at Elizabethan costuming, may I suggest QEI's Wardrobe Unlocked - it doesn't really have patterns as much as it has an overload of information.

  2. I just love this tale ... thanks for sharing the picture !

  3. Oh my!! I had forgotten about that book. One of my childhood favorites. Thanks for sharing :-)
