Chris and I popped over The Hill for a photo shoot this past week, and while we were there, we visited the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. On display was a rather wonderful exhibit of a great many ballet costumes from famous ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev‘s career. I snapped a few photos – I know, snapshots of costume displays in dimly lit museums aren’t the best, which is why you should, if you can, go see the exhibit for yourself, and bask in the glory of beautiful dance ensembles!

There is something so deliciously, unapologetically grand about ballet dress. I love the detail on the pink velvet! SO beautiful.

Thanks so much for the pictures of these fantastic costumes. Apologize all you want for them, but rest assured that they are greatly appreciated. Many of us will not have the opportunity to see them any other way:) I just caught a nice documentary on Russian ballerinas (via Netflix) "Ballerina" by Bertrand Normand. Worth seeing I thought for the beauty alone. It follows 5 artists of the Kirov.
Thanks again for taking the time to get these shots.
