The trip up to Reno this past weekend proved to be very fruitful indeed! I came back with more feathers! I acquired a bag full of beautiful, perfect, fanned out pheasant wings, as well as an enormous feathered wreath my mother was so sweet to purchase on my behalf.
My mind is already racing with the possibilities for the wings. They’re very large, and I can imagine them fanning out from my Halloween headdress, or forming the fantastic monument of some ridiculously large hat I will someday concoct.

OK, those are really cool, but also definitely on the creepy side.

But those look like actual wings! 😀 I'm sure you'll find great use for them, though. I guess there isn't a call for a mask? For those would have made a great HUGE mask. Or so my inner eye tells me.

They are indeed real wings. My dad is an avid bird hunter, so I take advantage of it and try to save the feathers, tails, etc. of the pheasants. I like the idea of using as much of the animal as possible, be it for food or decoration.
Leimomi, there was a cardinal wing in that bag you sent me!!
And my dear Madame, your inner eye is true…there will be some intensely large mask/headdress/hair madness with a wing or two 🙂
