1930s Oxfords: Your Vote, Please!

Ladies, I have so many exciting new shoes to share with you, but first I need your opinions.

I had “Claremont,” our 1930s reproduction oxfords, sampled in both black suede and brown.  Because we have so many things to order this Fall, including re-stocks of your faves, we can only choose one colorway for the first pre-order of this ’30s beauty.  Which do you prefer?

Please vote in the poll below.  The winner of this poll will be the first colorway made.  Success of Claremont means more colors in the future, so if you don’t fancy the winner, never fear.  Thank you!

Just voted for brown! I think that's a better color for day wear. It's fairly easy to find modern shoes in black that will work for the 1930s. It's much harder to find good shoes in brown.

That was such a tough choice, but for the same reasons as Emily above, I also voted for brown. I can't wait to pre-order. Super exicted!

I voted for brown as I have a lot of black shoes right now, though nothing so authentically gorgeous!! I drool for these shoes.

I can't wait for them to come out!

I voted brown as well. I have a nice pair of black shoes but not a pair of brown.

If you are all smart, you'll buy the fantastic 30's inspired Javelin Oxford at Payless! They're made by American Eagle, are WAY cuter than these, and under $30.!!!
The Javelin's are adorable, with much nicer detail.

Just looked at the Javelin Oxford offered by Payless. Yes they are cute but the heels are all wrong for 1930s. I have a similar pair of shoes with that same heel and I can tell you they are NOT comfortable. Plus the description says they made from man made materials. The Claremonts have a wonderful 1930s feel to them, and in my opinion a much more comfortable looking heel.
Lauren, You have done a beautiful job with these!

Those Payless oxfords are cute, indeed. I love Payless, and I love that there's sortof a vintage thing going on this season across the board. I agree with Emily about the heel – it's 3.5 inches high and placed at the back of the foot's heel, which unfortunately leads to lower back pain and foot pain, as it pitches the body forward over the balls of the feet and throws the whole body out of alignment. If we're talking strictly historical, the upper is reminiscent, but the heel and toe shape doesn't fit the bill, so while they're adorable and cheap, if you're looking for shoes for a period accurate impression, these don't quite hit the mark. Then again, though, that's why American Duchess shoes came into being 🙂

One thing I've learned about shoe purchases, having total comfort is worth the additional expense. AE does not excel in that category. That's why they're cheap. I have 3 pairs of shoes from American Duchess and I can walk (and have walked) all day in them with zero discomfort.

I saw this on your blog the other day or whenever, and I thought, 'so 30's &40's". I have pictures of both of my grandma's and great grandmothers wearing this style of shoes. How fun, I wish I could buy all of your shoes! I voted for the brown. Paula

    Brown for me, too.
While I actually need a similar style in black, as stated above by others, it's easier to find them in black.
Still, I hope these come in black for future versions; it's difficult to find the right heel shape such as this!
    XOXO~V
