Get ready for one heck of a Fall/Winter season. We’ve been finalizing *so* many new styles and *so* many new colorways, and I’m stoked to introduce the first of four Fall collections: “Velvet by American Duchess.”
We actually didn’t plan to group all of the velvet+leather styles together, but it just rather happened that way! Back by popular demand are Camille and Alpen boots, and we’ve added a new style, Lucille, made on our most popular last and heel shape.
Camille
These are possibly the sexiest boots we make – yes, they are historically accurate! Getting the curves right on these 1890s – 1920s boots has been tricky, but it’s essential. We went through many iterations to bring the ankles in, and in this re-introduction we’ve widened the tongue to make these boots fit a very broad range of calf sizes. Camilles go from 12 inches all the way up to 17 inches (1/2″ overlapping the tongue on each side), and don’t extend up to the widest part of the calf. The see if they’ll fit you, measure 8.5 inches up from your heel, then around the leg at that point.
Lucille
The low-top oxford sister of Camille boots, the Lucilles pair leather and velvet with wide satin shoe laces. You all went for the fun colors in the color poll we did a few weeks back, and the results are to die for! Acid green, rich merlot, navy, smooth black.
The two-tone Lucilles each come with contrast shoe laces, so you have two sets – one to match the leather, and one to match the velvet. They’re made on the Londoner/Bernadette/Gibson last and heel – very sturdy, comfortable, and well-balanced.
Alpen
Finally our best-selling vintage winter boots are back and in six colors! The Alpens are super comfy, super cozy, and made for cold weather. They’re leather foxed with hard-wearing velveteen uppers, sheepskin trim, and houndstooth wool lining. The soles on Alpens are rubber, making them safe and sturdy for wet, icy weather.
