V271: First Look at “23Skidoo” 1920s Spectator T-Strap Shoes

Those of you who follow along on Facebook have already seen these, but I wanted to share them here on the blog too.  I’m *so* excited about the new “23Skidoo” 1920s t-strap spectator shoes – these are the sample photos from the factory, and they look splendid!

UPDATE: “23Skidoos” are now available to order at www.American-Duchess.com!

I’d like your opinions, please – originally we planned to release 23Skidoo for pre-order early next year, but how about now instead?  Please lend your opinion to this poll…

Some particulars about 23Skidoo –

  • Luxe quality calf leather uppers
  • 6 cm / 2.36 inch custom made heel – balanced in the center of your heel
  • Buckle closure – adjustable for high or low arches
  • Paint your own spectator colors on the white/white colorway, with Angelus leather paints
  • Women’s US sizes 6 through 10, including half-sizes
  • Retail price – $120, with a nice discount for pre-ordering

The spectator styling came from requests from you lovely ladies.  The paint-your-own and brown/white colors were the most popular in the poll conducted a few weeks ago, but wouldn’t these also look ace in black/white, navy/white, and red/white?  Spectator styling is just so cool – Coco Chanel certainly thought so…

I have to say that shoes in this style never fancied my interest, UNTIL NOW! Something about these little ladies are tickling my fancy like crazy (even if I cannot afford a pair during this year). Long story short, I love these.

Hi Lumi – cool! I am happy these appeal to you 🙂 If getting them this year won't work, we'll have them in stock for you next year too, assuming it's a popular style 🙂

These are adorable, and you are a genius to design something so inspirational! One question, though, is there enough leather covering the ball of the foot area on the inside of the shoe? The originals seem to have a bit more leather there, and if you're going to be dancing in them that might be a help!

Otherwise, I can't imagine a more useful period accessory (or just plain gorgeous addition to a modern-day suit!!).

P.S. I have a slightly later original shoe in dark green, with suede for the upper and green leather for the toe/heel panels. Maybe in some future version?
    Best,

Hi Nancy – that is one of the things I will be testing for when the samples get here in a day or two. 🙂

I really love the suede/leather combination too. Oddly enough, I also have a pair of dark green just like that! Maybe that's the secret super-fashionable 1920s color, hehe.

The old salesperson I bought several pairs of pre WWII shoes from said the secret to their comfort was the continuous sheet of leather that was used for the sole AND the hidden side of the heel. He said it offered extra support. Also the fact that they were leather lined, which I see you are doing — brilliant!

I don't have enough money right now for a second pair of historical shoes, as I just bought a pair of Pompadours! I'd love to have a pair of these as well, but not right away… I would love them in black and white too 🙂 White and navy sound great to me as well 🙂 Or you could maybe get these two colors now and get the new colors early next year if that's possible!!
